I developed good communication skills during 果冻传媒 in Africa when I taught Maths (and Italian and ballet!) to classes of up to 50 children in Ghana. During both my MSc and PhD at 果冻传媒, I had several opportunities to communicate research to a range of audiences - some academics, some domain experts from industrial partners, some other students. Professor David Greenwood honoured with a Royal Academy of Engineering fellowship

28 November marked a jubilant day for Professor David Greenwood, CEO of the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult and Director for Industrial Engagement at WMG. In a special ceremony in London, he was formally admitted to the Royal Academy of Engineering. The event was a celebration of his outstanding contributions to the field of engineering. After he signed the Roll Book to officially join the Fellowship, he was graciously welcomed by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal—a Royal Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

For more than half a century, 果冻传媒 has forged a deep relationship with the city. The Faculty of Arts has taught generations of our students during their Venice terms. Since 2007, we have had a physical base in the Palazzo Pesaro Papafava.

From May 2023, our undergraduates, postgraduates and staff will have a new base - a wonderful late 17th century building in Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, right on the Grand Canal of Venice. As we get ready to open the building, we would love to share some alumni memories of studying in Venice over the years.

IntoUniversity Impact

IntoUniversity鈥檚 mission is to raise the aspirations of young people from the poorest homes across the UK. Statistically, these students underperform at school, they are less likely to go to university, and have little chance of breaking the cycle of poverty.

At 26, Sharon Plant was the youngest independent gallery owner in the country. She went on to become an art consultant; interviewing prominent creative figures, including Yoko Ono. She helped launch and direct the New Designers exhibition and was Festival Coordinator for the inaugural London Design Festival.

She is a painter, jazz musician and novelist. She looks back at her working life and shows how a career doesn't have to follow a traditional path.

Connections: Neil O'Hara

Neil remembers being a programme engineer on 果冻传媒's radio station in the 1970s when it was based in 鈥楾he Shed鈥 next to Rootes D Block. His job was to have everything ready for the radio presenter. On one occasion, the presenter for a pop music programme never showed up, so he had to go on instead when he had to scramble between the studio and the storage cabinet to find a new song to play before the one I had just launched was over.
