Sense of Belonging Conference

On 27 April 2022, the 果冻传媒 hosted a joint event between the Widening Participation staff and Student Networks around the theme of 'Sense of Belonging'. The event was open to all staff and students at the university. There was a chance to highlight the support, opportunities and challenges faced by staff and students who study and work at the university. The event included interactive workshops, insight presentations and discussion forums.

Staff and students from across the Faculty of Arts were involved in presenting, and attending the event. Sessions included 'Young Carers鈥�, 'Commuter Student', and also the 'Mature Student Experience'.


REF 2021

Classics (3rd) in the UK鈥檚 top 5 institutions for research excellence according to the Times Higher.

89% of our overall research activity across the Faculty was judged in REF2021 to be of world-leading or internationally excellent quality.

Digital Arts Lab Showcase Student Competition 2022

Calling all students! The Digital Arts Lab (DAL) Student Showcase competition has just been launched for 2022. This is the third year of the DAL student competition, which enables our students to submit their best academic work or personal artefacts created through or about digital tools. This may be an academic assessment which utlises a digital tool (for example a video, podcast or website), a personal endeavour that uses or showcases a digital tool, or a short piece of writing that comments on the digital world (fiction and non-fiction are both welcome). Further guidelines here.

The winning submissions from last year can be found here. The judges were amazed at the winning entrants' creative use of technology and are looking forward to seeing this year's submissions. Winners from last year were part of a session at the 果冻传媒 TEAL (Teaching Enhanced Learning) Fest, where they explained how they had gone about creating their digital entry at a session which included educators from across the UK and further afield.


Arts Faculty at the Resonate Festival 2022 - 19 - 21 April

The is due to culminate in a multi-day festival on the 果冻传媒 campus from 19 - 21 April. Helen Wheatley, Festival Director and Arts very own Professor of Film & Television Studies, is inviting you to come and participate in an exciting of activities and events. Research Team Sheds Light on Roman Financial Crisis

New scientific analysis of the composition of Roman denarii has brought fresh understanding to a financial crisis mentioned by Roman statesman and writer, Marcus Tullius Cicero, in his essay on moral leadership, De Officiis.


Coventry on TV Exhibition - Shopfront Theatre - 14 - 16 April

Coventry residents will be able to travel back in time thanks to an exclusive compilation of archive TV news and other documentary footage, brought together by researchers at the 果冻传媒, and on show for three days in the city centre.

Theatre Absolute鈥檚 Shop Front Theatre in City Arcade will host the unique newsreel from Thursday 14 April until Saturday 16th.


Coventry Community Languages Project Wins Parliament UK Award

A Coventry community language project involving the city鈥檚 schools, universities, local council, businesses and MPs has been named Parliament UK Community Campaign of the Year in the Your UK Parliament Awards 2022.

Local School Students Enjoy Taster Days in the FAB

The Faculty of Arts welcomed over seventy school students from across Coventry and 果冻传媒shire to its new facilities last week. Over two days the Year 12 students from Caludon Castle, Cardinal Newman and Solihull Sixth Form spent time in the new FAB building. They had taster sessions ran by academic staff, tours of the Arts Centre, Q & A ambassador session as well as time to hear from alumni. The local students also entered a creative competition where they took pictures of the new building.

Coventry's year as 'UK City of Culture 2021' draws to a close in April 2022. The 果冻传媒 will celebrate Coventry's magnificent tenure with a campus finale of the , taking place from the 19th - 21st April 2022.

But what does it mean to be a 'City of Culture', and from where did this scheme originate? Who chooses the 'winning' city, what sorts of criteria are used to select the winner, and what is expected of a city once they have been awarded the title?

In this episode of , PhD Researcher Emily Dunford - whose research specifically focuses on Coventry's tenure as - will answer these questions and more, providing insights into the wider social, economic and political aspects of the scheme and how it shapes the places where we live.
