The FIDELIO team in IGSD have published a new journal article on the relationship between nature conservation in the Eifel National Park, Germany and the social impacts of, social equity in, and public support for the park as a biodiversity conservation policy. The findings are based on hundreds of responses from local residents living in and around the national park to an online public survey as part of the wider FIDELIO project. On 7-11 July Professor Elena Korosteleva was invited to Uzbekistan in the capacity of electoral observer. She observed elections in Samarkand, on Sunday 9 July, having visited 5 polling stations, engaged in conversations with citizens, political parties’ observers, and members of the electoral commission. She further spoke to the Chairman of the Electoral Commission in Samarkand, passing her feedback and observations.

The ¹û¶³´«Ã½ welcomed its first cohort of early career researchers to its newly developed Sustainability Training School (warwick.ac.uk). The training school was created by the university’s Institute for Global Sustainable Development (warwick.ac.uk)in partnership with EUTOPIA (warwick.ac.uk), a university alliance that brings together 10 European universities, including , and .

The ECR STS 1.0 pioneered a transdisciplinary way of training the next generation of scientists to work conjointly towards solving global planetary problems. This year’s focus was ‘Resilience and Sustainable Development’.

On Monday 3rd July, Dr Vangelis Pitidis was invited to present his insights and experience in conducting interdisciplinary research with PhD students from across the ¹û¶³´«Ã½, in the context of Day 1 of the Doctoral College FestivalLink opens in a new window that takes place between 3-4 July at Faculty of Arts Building. Dr Pitidis's presentation 'Tackling global sustainability challenges with interdisciplinary skills' focused on personal interpretations of interdisciplinary research as well as challenges in conducting such research on the field, providing a short summary of previous interdisciplinary projects in the Global South Dr Pitidis has participated in.
