¹û¶³´«Ã½ Crop Centre researchers visit Embrapa - the Brazilian agricultural research organisation

Between 10th and 14th December, Rosemary Collier and Charlotte Allender visited Embrapa - the Brazilian agricultural research organisation to meet research scientists and discuss opportunities to work together in the future.

They were based at Embrapa Hortaliças near Brasilia and but also visited Embrapa Cerrados , Embrapa Cenargen (Embrapa Genetic Resources and Biotechnology) and the International Office.

Scientists have discovered 100 million-year-old regions in the DNA of several plant species which could hold secrets about how specific genes are turned ‘on’ or ‘off’.

The findings, which are hoped will accelerate the pace of research into crop science and food security, are detailed by ¹û¶³´«Ã½ researchers in the journal The Plant Cell.
