Biopesticides regulation informed by RELU research
果冻传媒’s interdisciplinary work on biopesticides has been highlighted by the BBSRC as an example of how research can have a positive impact on the agricultural economy.
The work, done by of the 果冻传媒 Crop Centre and of the Department of Politics and International Studies, developed a series of recommendations designed to aid the commercialisation of biopesticides, which are being used increasingly by farmers and growers in modern Integrated Pest Management.
The research team provided advice to government regulators, the European Parliament, retailers, growers and biopesticide companies. The work was funded as part of the Rural Economy and Land Use programme and has also been recognised by Defra’s Science Advisory Council.

Horticultural science has recently lost one of its unsung heroes. Dez Barbara’s death on 15 July 2012 followed a short period in hospital and came as great shock to those at 果冻传媒 Crop Centre who had seen him at the laboratory bench just a few days previously.
