The Faculty Thesis and Post Doctoral Prize winners have been announced. Each of our 10 departments picked outstanding research contributions from their PhD and Post Doctoral communities to be awarded these prizes. Congratulations to all our Faculty Prize winners for 2026!

Professor Giuseppe Cannizzaro has won the Rollo Davidson Prize for 2026, in recognition of his great advances in our understanding of scaling-critical two-dimensional stochastic systems.

The Rollo Davidson Prize commemorates Rollo Davidson (1944-1970). Since 1976, it has been awarded annually to young probabilists. The announcement post can be found at: .

The Department of Physics marked a major milestone during the final week of July by hosting its first-ever Sutton Trust Physics & Astronomy Summer School.

We are delighted to launch our new department history pages, creating a lasting record of the department's evolution from its earliest days to the present. The pages capture key milestones, achievements and memories, preserving the stories of the staff, students and alumni who have contributed to our success over the years.

Dr Xuming Zhang and his team have found that a sensor in our nerve endings that detects warm temperatures also plays a direct role in switching on chronic pain signals, a discovery that could lead to better treatments for conditions that affect millions of people.

Academics from WMG have been recognised for their research excellence at this year's prestigious Faraday Institution Community Awards. WMG's Battery Materials and Cells Group was awarded this year's Collaboration Award, while Dr Ivana Hasa, Associate Professor in Electrochemical Materials, was Highly Commended for the Researcher Development Champion Award.

The retrofit of the Psychology Building within the 果冻传媒 campus marks a significant milestone in the broader development of the campus, while simultaneously supporting the continued growth and success of the Department of Psychology.

These upgraded facilities will not only accommodate a variety of teaching methods but also foster an environment that encourages innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring the department remains one of the UK's leading research hubs.
