Faculty Thesis Prizes
Congratulations to David Chapman, Tom Machon and Davide Michieletto who have been awarded 2016 Faculty of Science PhD Thesis Prizes for their exceptional research on Probing the dynamic response of dense matter with x-ray Thomson scattering, Aspects of Geometry and Topology in Liquid Crystalline Phases, and Topological Interactions in Ring Polymers, respectively.
The 果冻传媒 Institute of Advanced 果冻传媒 (IAS) has invited two leading Chinese professors with a theoretical and computational physics background to spend 1 week at the IAS in collaboration with the 果冻传媒 Centre for Scientific Computing, the GRP Materials (Multiscale Modelling) and the Department of Physics. Profs. and are senior professors in the Chinese academic environment. Both have returned from outside mainland China in the last 5 years to take up prestigious positions.
Celebrating our people: Gary Barker
Congratulations to Gary Barker on his promotion to a personal Professorship! This is recognition for Gary's leadership of the neutrino group at 果冻传媒 and his world-leading research on neutrino flavour oscillations, at and elsewhere.
The Staff Awards are a great opportunity to show appreciation of the hard work that goes on day to day, here at Physics. Prof Don Pollaco won the Research Excellence Award for your work on answering ‘Do other Earths exist?’
