Anne Green, Institute for Employment Research, states that in moving more than 20,000 civil service jobs out of the capital the Government will have to consider the emotional strain placed on the families of employees, as well as pay the moving costs.
The projections are the latest in a long series, previously funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). They are based on the use of a multi-sectoral, regional macroeconomic model, combined with occupational and replacement demand modules. The main projection period covered is 2002 to 2012.
A high-ranking delegation of officials from China's Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MOLSS) are visiting the University's Institute of Employment Research to research policies and measures adopted in recent years to promote employment in the UK.
