¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School is pleased to welcome Dr Anil Yilmaz Vastardis from Essex Law School, University of Essex to our community. Dr Yilmaz Vastardis has been appointed as Honorary Associate Professor with the GLOBE Centre and will be supporting research, teaching, impact and engagement activities, and collaborations with colleagues.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School’s Professor Jane Bryan, creator of the ‘Say My Name’ project here at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, has collaborated with Brentford FC to create their own name campaign as part of the Premier League’s No Room for Racism week held during Black History Month.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School’s Associate Professor Serena Natile has been a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University College of Law since October this year. As she nears the end of her fellowship, she discusses her experience at the College, her current research and what is next for her.

We are thrilled to announce that ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School has achieved excellent results in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS), reflecting high levels of student satisfaction. The survey gathers feedback from final-year undergraduate students on a variety of academic and student experience factors.

Naveera Abhayawickrama, who is currently in her second year studying on our LLB 3-year law degree has been awarded a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) Fellowship. Congratulations from everyone at WLS Naveera, and best of luck in your activities with WIHEA.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School would like to wish a warm welcome to our new postgraduate scholarship holders. Having beat out strong competition to win their awards, they have now started their LLM studies and are settling into life at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.

Writing Wrongs is a writing programme for local year 12 and year 13 students which supports young writers from widening participation backgrounds to explore issues related to social justice and to improve their storytelling and writing skills. The deadline for applications is Thursday 28 November 2024.

The Namibian lawyer, diplomat and social justice advocate Bience Gawanas (LLB Law, 1986) has been appointed as our new Chancellor. Discover more about Bience, a former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ alumna.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School welcomes IAS Visiting Fellow Dr Basani Baloyi from the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) in South Africa to our community. She will be working with us until 25 October this year. Whilst at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, Dr Baloyi will be based at the Centre for Law, Regulation and Governance of the Global Economy (GLOBE).

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School welcomes IAS Visiting Fellow Prof Waheeda Amien from the University of Cape Town to our community. She will be working with us until 6 November this year. Whilst at ¹û¶³´«Ã½, Professor Amien will be collaborating with Dr Rajnaara Akhtar on mutual research interests, and a potential funding application.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ Law School welcomes a new Assistant Professor to our community.

Prior to joining ¹û¶³´«Ã½, Svitlana Lebedenko was a Hauser Fellow at the New York University School of Law’s Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy and a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence.
