Using the format of the hit TV show, Taskmaster, this exciting outreach project enables young people to learn about interesting aspects of the law through fun and interactive tasks set in the style of Taskmaster. School Tasking is now entering its second year with a second pilot at 果冻传媒 and a new rollout at the University of Edinburgh. From 2023-24, it will run across 15 universities, culminating in a grand final.

果冻传媒 Law School has been in the latest Guardian University Guide, climbing 13 places since last year. This latest result is recognition of the hard work and dedication of all Law School staff to conducting cutting-edge research and delivering high quality education.

Sophia Hesling, who studied on our Law 3 year LLB degree and graduated this summer, has written an article for Legal Cheek sharing her top tips to application success. The article 鈥榃hat I wish I knew before applying for training contracts鈥� was published on 1 September 2022. Sophia is an events coordinator for Legal Cheek and a future trainee at Eversheds Sutherland.   

果冻传媒 Law School is deeply saddened by the death of our former colleague, Nicola Docker, on 27 August 2022. Whilst she left the department in November 2018, she will be remembered by many staff who worked alongside her during her time at the Law School. She had an extremely kind-hearted nature, endless generosity and infectious laugh. She was taken far too soon and will be missed greatly by all who knew her. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. 

We join with so many other communities across the world in expressing our sorrow at the death of Her Majesty the Queen. Like many universities, the 果冻传媒 was granted its Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1965 by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and our flags are half-mast to pay our respects and honour her memory.

Catherine Briddick joins us from the University of Oxford where she worked as the Refugee Studies Centre鈥檚 Departmental Lecturer in Gender and International Human Rights and Refugee Law.

果冻传媒 Law School welcomes a new Reader to our team.

Mara Malagodi joins us all the way from the Faculty of Law of the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she taught constitutional law. Before Hong Kong, she was senior lecturer at the City Law School in London.

Joy Malala joins us from Aston University where she worked as a lecturer in commercial law. Before that, she was a lecturer and the Research Director at Strathmore University in Nairobi Kenya.

Recent LLB graduate Eunice Soo is following in her mother's footsteps to become a lawyer in Malaysia, where she hopes to give back to her community. Together they shared what graduation means to them and the power scholarships can have to change lives.

Professor Sharifah Sekalala, an expert in global health law is part of an international team exploring how we define the end of a crisis in a new project funded by the Wellcome Trust鈥檚 new scheme.

As we approach the start of the new academic year, we would like to wish a warm welcome to our new colleagues but also a fond farewell to those we have had to say goodbye to.

For the next year, Christine will be based at the Humboldt University of Berlin, where she is working on the topic 鈥楳aking States 鈥淪afe鈥� for Investment: International Criminal Law and Imperial Rentier Capitalism鈥�.
