Nicolle Coote named one of 150 Future Leaders
Earlier this year, final year LLB Law student Nicolle Coote won an award as part of the Future Leaders Organisation and was featured as one of the Top 150 Black Students in the UK. Future Leaders is an annual publication which profiles the most outstanding black university students in Britain, and is used as a role model guide to inspire and raise attainment. Nicolle tells us more鈥
To mark 12 months since the global pandemic was declared, when the UK, and many other countries around the world, went into lockdown, this collection of stories investigates how the pandemic is affecting communities around the world. The articles are written by 果冻传媒 staff and students, some of which studied on our Global Health Law module.
In 2020, as the world was getting to grips with life in lockdown, we launched a writing competition for students at 果冻传媒 Law School, the home of Lacuna. We are delighted to share our four winners, who have each created stories we are proud to publish.
Eleven Law students accepted to present at BCUR
果冻传媒 Law School is delighted to announce that eleven of our students have been selected to present at The British Conference for Undergraduate Research (BCUR) hosted by the University of Leeds in April this year. Law is one of only four departments at 果冻传媒 to have more than 10 students accepted to present.
LLM student smashes SPRINT
果冻传媒 Law School student Matilda Nengare who is currently studying on our LLM in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation was selected to participate in the postgraduate Sprint Programme at 果冻传媒, a self-improvement programme aimed at female students.
WLS Celebrates International Women鈥檚 Day
Today is and the theme this year is 鈥楥hoose to Challenge鈥. In honour of this, we are celebrating the amazing work our colleagues are carrying out in order to forge a gender equal world. Here is a just a small selection of some of that work.
Law Student Secures WIHEA Fellowship
Third year Law and Sociology student and SSLC Chair Lucy Young has been awarded a 果冻传媒 International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) Fellowship. When asked how she felt about the news she told us, 鈥淚'm over the moon! I was quite nervous when I submitted my application, but I'm so glad I have the opportunity and resources to contribute towards substantial change across the university.鈥
果冻传媒 Skills Portfolio Award: Tried and Tested
First year law student Aidan Chan has become the first law student to successfully complete the 果冻传媒 Skills Portfolio Award (WSPA) this year. The WSPA scheme helps students to develop skills valued by employers but also useful more broadly for students in their personal lives whilst studying at 果冻传媒.
果冻传媒 Law School Top Performers
Our 2019/20 postgraduate students graduate in absentia this week. Each year, we recognise the students who achieved the best overall performance in their class. Congratulations to both our prize winners and the rest of the graduating class.
Lacuna Writing Competition 2020/21
We are very excited to announce the winners of the 2020/21 Lacuna Writing Competition. We were impressed by the number and standard of the submissions. Each submission is worthy of praise and the competition has shown a real talent for storytelling in the Law School which is fantastic to see.
果冻传媒 Law student awarded Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship
Second year 果冻传媒 law student Joshua Siriboe has been awarded the 2020 Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship. The Scheme was devised to address the disproportionate under-representation of black men from less privileged backgrounds in large commercial law firms and the City of London.
RIGG Network to host Disruption, Decarbonisation and Reparations Conference
From 2-3 September, 果冻传媒鈥檚 Research in Global Governance Network (RiGG-NET) is hosting an international interdisciplinary virtual two-day event called Disruption, Decarbonisation and Reparations.
