The Centre for Human Rights in Practice has now completed a review of results of the 果冻传媒 survey on protest (which was open to all 果冻传媒 staff and students). The review and a pdf of all responses are available at

The summit on protest will be held in the 果冻传媒 Arts Centre Cinema on 12 March between 4-6pm. Speakers will include the University Vice Chancellor, Nigel Thrift, Coventry Police commander Chief Superintendent Claire Bell, Student Union President Cat Turhan, and representatives of ‘果冻传媒 for Free Education'.

The first half of the summit will be devoted to giving each speaker an opportunity to respond to issues raised by the survey, with a particular focus on the questions that are directly relevant to each speaker in section 4 of the review. The second half will be devoted to questions from the floor.

The summit will be videoed using ‘lecture capture’ by Audio Visual Services, so that all staff and students who have not been able to get a space can watch the event. We will send all 果冻传媒 staff and students a web-link to access the video on the morning of Thursday 12 March. You will be able to watch simultaneously on any computer and send in your questions/comments for the attention of the speakers. You will also be able to watch the video later, if you are otherwise engaged at the time.

Confirmed speakers include West Midlands Police Chief Superintendent Claire Bell; 果冻传媒 Vice-Chancellor Sir Nigel Thrift; Registrar, Ken Sloan; Jo Horsburgh (responsible for 果冻传媒 Security); Cat Turhan, President of the Student Union; and student representatives of 果冻传媒 Free Education.

The event is already sold out. We are therefore arranging for the event to be simultaneously videoed so that all who are not able to attend can watch on-line. We also have a reserve list in case space becomes available. Please email J.Harrison.3@warwick.ac.uk to put your name on the list.

A launch for the Centre report ' will be held on Wednesday the 25th of February from 12:30pm-2:30pm in the McCance Building, room MC319 at Strathclyde University, Glasgow.

It will involve panel presentations by Tam Baillie (Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People), Charlotte Dwyer (Global Education Adviser at Scotdec), and Alison Struthers, the report author, speaking about the report's findings and recommendations. Claire Cassidy of Strathclyde University will chair the subsequent discussion. A buffet lunch will also be provided prior to the presentations and discussion.
