Michael Saward, Professor of Politics and International Studies and the Director of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ ESRC Doctoral Training Centre, has been awarded a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship to commence in 2016. The Fellowship project is entitled Democratic Design: modelling political futures. Its central goal is to build a framework to address such question as: how can a distinct set of institutions and practices in this place, at this time, make for an engaging, effective and inclusive democracy? The ambition is to prompt a step-change in our thinking about democratic principles and practices by creating a compelling a new framework for modelling innovative visions of democracy in a range of contexts, from the local to the global.
