Miriam Grinberg, a first-year PhD candidate in PAIS, has been awarded a for 2013-14. The award goes towards funding Miriam's fieldwork next year in Japan, where she will be conducting interviews and archival studies as part of her dissertation research entitled 'The US-Japan alliance and the relocation of Futenma: Sites of discursive exchange in the reproduction of security alliances'.

The Department of Politics and International Studies would like to invite all PAIS undergraduate students and their guests to our drinks reception which will take place before your graduation ceremony on Thursday 18^th July 2013. The event will be in Chancellors Suite, Rootes Building, from 12noon-1.30pm, there will be a buffet lunch available and refreshments so please come along and join us for a glass of bucks fizz to toast your future success.

Prof Richard Aldrich contributed an article to The Conversation entitled '' on 12 June. The article comments on the current state of internet surveillance and speculates where it will be in future.

Chris Moran featured on a 'Spies and Secrecy' panel with Peter Hennessy as part of 果冻传媒 Book Festival. The new festival is an initiative launched by the Institute of Advanced 果冻传媒 in partnership with Queen Mary University, London, and celebrates some of the finest contemporary writing on a diverse range of historical periods, themes and ideas. Chris also took part in the 果冻传媒 Words festival of literature and spoken word, speaking on James Bond's enduring popularity.
