PG "Work In Progress" Seminar
Postgraduate Work-In-Progress SeminarA weekly seminar for Philosophy postgraduates to present their in-progress work, followed by a well-spirited trip to the pub. OverviewThe WIP provides a risk-free and supportive space for postgraduates to present their work and receive feedback from other graduates and faculty.
Attendance optional but highly recommended. All postgraduates are welcome to present or attend -- whether MA, MPhil, PhD, Visitors, etc. Useful InfoThe WIP is a unique opportunity for graduates to develop their presenting and writing skills, take risks, test out ideas, and receive constructive feedback from peers.
Presentations need not be watertight or polished pieces at all. You are encouraged to present work at all stages of the writing process. "Should I present?"1. If you are a postgraduate, then you should present. 2. You are a postgraduate. 3. Therefore, you should present. |

10.00-12 noon - General Introductory Meeting in R1.15 first floor of the Ramphal building:

Students will have opportunities to meet with staff during the day to discuss any modules they may be interested in taking.
Unless otherwise notified, in addition to the General Introductory Meeting, incoming Research students should see their supervisors on Tuesday, 2nd October (in their offices) to arrange their first supervisions.
Taught course students should meet in the Department with the appropriate convenor in their office immediately after the general meeting as follows:
- MA in Continental Philosophy: Keith Ansell Pearson
- MA in Philosophy: Tom Crowther
- MA Philosophy and Literature: David James
- MPhil in Philosophy: Christoph Hoerl (meeting to be held at 1pm on Friday 3rd October 2014 instead)
Note: In addition, all MA Philosophy & Literature students should go to see the Postgraduate Secretary of the English Department (Reception Area, 5th Floor of Humanities Building) before 2.30pm on Tuesday 2nd October.
