Volunteers required for Graduate Open Days
Exercise and develop your interpersonal skills to help us to deliver an excellent visitor experience at our Undergraduate Open Days, on Saturday 8 and 22 October. Meet colleagues and students from across the University. Time off in lieu is available, or overtime for staff grades 1-5. Embedding Values within the student journey
Benefit from resources, connections and bite-size activities that support explorations of values in teaching emailed straight to your inbox, so that you can dip in and out at your convenience, by from 19 – 23 September. Guest speaker Theo Gilbert will also host a live workshop on teaching and assessing compassion skills.
Visit and support our undergraduates’ fun and interactive showcase of their projects as part of this special event, in collaboration with ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Institute of Engagement and the International Conference of Undergraduate Research, on 28 September. Mathematicians, linguists, sociologists, historians and others, will be running interactive stalls and chatting about their discoveries.
Funding available for early career academics to impact businesses
Funding is available for up to £35,000 per project to work with a business, charitable company, or charity, to deliver a short, rapid and targeted intervention to accelerate the evaluation or development of an innovation project or concept. What drives this inequality, and how can employers break the class ceiling? on 27 September where the panel will discuss their work and how organisations can build truly diverse and inclusive cultures which promote social mobility.
New Biotech Network
Excellent biotechnology from within and outside the University will be showcased at a new series of termly Biotech Network meetings. on 22 September introducing two start-ups presenting their technology and pathway, from fundamental research to commercialisation: Infinitopes and CryoLogyx. The new MRC IAA fund will also be discussed, and catering provided.

Temporary car parking restrictions: 22 - 25 September
We’ll be welcoming many students to their on-campus accommodation between Thursday 22 and Sunday 25 September. During this time, staff are asked to avoid parking in the following car parks: Kirby Corner, Car Parks 6 and 8 (multi-storey and flat), and Lakeside Village.
