Women of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ WI: Campus Treasure Hunt on 15 September

Join a treasure hunt around campus; take in the sights, see the changes that have taken place over the last 18 months and re-familiarise yourself with some of your favourite spaces on campus. No charge to join in, families and non-members welcome, and refreshments available. Register your interest and meet in the Piazza at 5.30pm on Wednesday 15 September.

In memoriam: Tom Stone

The University was sad to learn that Tom Stone, one of the first academics to be appointed to the new ¹û¶³´«Ã½ in the 1960s, passed away recently. Tom retired in 2001, following a lengthy career at our University.

The Times Higher Education’s (THE) World University Rankings 2022 has named the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ as one of the UK’s top 10 and the world’s top 80 universities.

West Midlands Cycle Hire launches on campus

Coventry’s successful West Midlands Cycle Hire (WMCH) scheme has now been expanded to cover our campus and Coventry Railway Station.

 

This sees an additional nine new docking stations made available to users. Seven of these are on the university site with the remaining two outside the Visitor Information Hub at Coventry Railway Station and at Starley Gardens on Cox Street. There are 75 bikes over the area.

Professor J.E. Smyth has been named as a 2021 Academy Film Scholar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This annual grant is awarded to established scholars whose projects are focused on aspects of filmmaking and the film industry.

Sustainable labs – supporting our lab spaces to reduce environmental impact

Did you know that laboratories typically consume 3-10 times more energy per metre squared than typical academic spaces? We’re keen to reduce the environmental impact of our labs, so we’ve signed up to ‘LEAF’ - the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework. Labs are awarded either a bronze, silver or gold level, depending on how many sustainability actions they take. It’s open to both students and staff working in labs.
