Exploring our conferencing space in the 果冻传媒 Venice Centre

Welcome to Venice

Over the last six months, we've shared stories from staff who've taught on the 果冻传媒 in Venice programme, we've learned what the long-term dreams are for our new Venetian base, and we've even discovered how 果冻传媒 researchers have teamed up with historians from Ca' Foscari University to create museum exhibitions of the future.

Now, as we continue exploring everything the 果冻传媒 Venice Centre has to offer, it's time to talk conferences and events....

A new hub for knowledge-sharing

The 果冻传媒 Venice Centre has been used as a hub for the Associazione Progetto Rialto committee's two conferences this term. This non-profit group - with a Vice-President in the form of our own Dr Luca Mol脿, Director of the 果冻传媒 Venice Centre - is committed to managing cultural initiatives, conferences, knowledge and more, on the theme of Rialto, the famous Venetian market.

The topic of the conferences this year was Maintenance, Conservation, Restoration. Each lecture dealt with traditional and innovative ways of thinking when it comes to reusing historical buildings and urban spaces in Venice. And, with the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin - home to the 果冻传媒 Venice Centre - having been in use since the mid-1600s, this topic feels timely.

Whose Global History?

The first-ever in-person workshop of the 'Whose Global History' network was held at the 果冻传媒 in Venice centre from 11-12 December.

The network brings together scholars from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe to consider inequalities that impact historical research at a global level - and in the past, all of its meetings have taken place online. Now, with the 果冻传媒 Venice Centre as a central hub, the team was able to meet in person for a two-day workshop, face to face!

Opportunities for staff

Did you know that staff can hire out rooms and meeting zones within the 果冻传媒 in Venice centre? Beautifully designed spaces give you the flexibility to hold intimate meetings, teach course modules or host larger seminars and conferences.

We already know that a long-term goal for this new base is to transform it into a specialist teaching and research space - to set up collaborations with other institutions worldwide, but also to extend the 果冻传媒 in Venice programme invitation to many other 果冻传媒 students, such as those studying Science and Social Sciences.

If your department is considering widening its offer to students, there couldn't be a more exciting time to travel over to this beautiful city and find out what our Venetian centre can provide.
