On 23 February we updated you on the arrangements at 果冻传媒 following the and let you know which students could return from 8 March.

We can now update you on which students can return at the beginning of Term 3 - 26 April, week one of the new term. This follows on from the that was updated on 22 February around resuming in-person teaching and learning for students who are studying practical or practice-based (including creative arts) subjects and that require specialist equipment and facilities.

Students who can return from 26 April

Students who have already resumed some face-to-face teaching alongside existing online teaching and learning to campus since 8 March, will continue to have some face-to-face teaching from 26 April. This includes:

• MBChB
• Social Work
• Initial Teaching Training
• 果冻传媒 Foundation Studies
• Final year students on MBio courses with lab-based project work to complete
• Final year students on MChem courses with lab-based project work to complete
• Postgraduate taught students in WMG
• Postgraduate taught students in the Centre for Culture and Media Policy Studies
  
  

• In addition, students in all year groups who are studying science subjects that require lab-based activity and specialist equipment and some theatre studies students can return from 26 April. Departments will be in touch with students directly to confirm arrangements.

We are still awaiting guidance from government on when all other students can return to campus – this review is expected at the end of the Easter holidays. As soon as we have that guidance, we will update students on when they can return for Term 3. They are advised to check their University email account regularly, including during the Easter vacation, and keep an eye on .

Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Sciences students

• We are expecting guidance from government on the plans for Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social Sciences students in all year groups after the Easter holidays. Until we receive this further guidance, students should remain where they are and continue to study online.

International students

The guidance for international students is unchanged – students have already been notified that:

• the physical arrival date of 6 April for new students has been relaxed – international students 鈥媍an complete their studies for this academic year online (there are exceptions for certain courses)
• the UKVI Graduate route visa arrival deadline for 1-year Masters students has been pushed back to 21 June from 6 April

Rent waiver

The current rent waiver is in place for eligible students with on campus accommodation until midnight on 9 April 2021. We have emailed students who may be eligible directly.

We will review the position on the rent waiver when we have received further guidance from government after Easter and before 9 April.

Easter Travel Window

The Government has confirmed that students will be allowed to move on one occasion from their student household to one other household. They have from 8 March until 29 April to move to their vacation household. View the .

The regulations have been changed to allow students current living in their term time accommodation to return to their home address for the Easter break, if they choose. However, they are advised to remain in their term time accommodation where possible, especially those who returned from 8 March.

International students are also allowed to return home once for their Easter break, which includes a journey involving overseas travel. However, in order to minimise transmission, and because travel restrictions could change whilst students are overseas, making it harder for students to get back into England, the government strongly advises students not to travel, and to remain in their term-time accommodation.

There is a new requirement from 8 March that prior to travel, travellers must complete demonstrating that they have a legal reason to travel.

Students should also check any restrictions that apply to the country they are travelling to. .

If students are planning to travel, they are encouraged to take two lateral flow tests before they leave to keep themselves, their household and community safe.

Asymptomatic testing

If students are returning to face to face learning they are encouraged to take a test before they travel back, where community testing facilities are available to them. There are now many locations where community testing is available, If they test positive, they are legally required to self-isolate for ten days and should not travel.

Students should get tested as soon as they arrive at their term time address and then they should continue to book two lateral flow tests every week so that we can protect our community until we receive guidance to stop.

The Slate service now has extended hours from 9:00 – 19:00 Monday to Friday.

Welcoming students back in Term 3

We are really looking forward to being able to welcome students back at some point in Term 3 to campus and face-to-face teaching and learning, and safe extra-curricular and 果冻传媒 Presents activities.
