National Coming Out Day 2023

#NationalComingOutDay

The UK celebrates this year's National Coming Out Day on Wednesday 11 October.

At ¹û¶³´«Ã½, we see and celebrate our LGBTQUA+ colleagues. Coming out can be scary and complicated - here are some resources to support staff, as well as family members or friends of our LGBTQUA+ community.

LGBTQUA+ Staff Network

This network provides an opportunity for LGBTQUA+ staff to meet, share their experiences, discuss related issues, access information and support, and organise events. Find out more.

Staff can also make use of the Buddy Scheme, which helps pair new or not-yet 'out' colleagues with a friendly face from the community.

Support ¹û¶³´«Ã½'s LGBTQUA+ community

If you don't identify as LGBTQUA+ but would like to offer your support to this community, why not sign up to be a Rainbow Ally?

This group commits to creating an open, safe and inclusive environment for all LGBTQUA+ colleagues, students, and visitors at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.

What is 'coming out'?

This Health Assured webinar explains more about what coming out means, and why it can be both challenging and empowering.
