New Academic Director (Post Graduate Taught)

Congratulations to Associate Professor, Lee Griffin from WMG, who has been appointed as the new Academic Director for PGT. Lee will join the team on 1st October 2021 to succeed Christopher Bisping, who has taken up a professorship in Germany.

Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), and as a member of the Education Executive and Education Committee, Lee will work closely with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellors, and other Academic Directors, Faculty Chairs, Academic Registrar and Director of Education Policy & Quality and colleagues across a range of academic and support departments, as well as with the Students' Union.

Lee will be leading on specific institutional initiatives and strategy in relation to postgraduate taught (PGT) studies to ensure the development and co-ordination of high-quality academic study and wider development opportunities for PGT students. The role will cover all forms of delivery (part-time, full-time, distance learning and via partner organisations) and be responsive to the needs of a highly diverse and international PGT student community.

Commenting on his successful appointment, Lee said:

鈥淚鈥檓 excited to be appointed to this new role; I鈥檓 passionate about our PGT programmes and relish the opportunity to build on the great work done by Christopher Bisping, and build a coherent and ambitious strategy for all our PGT provision. I鈥檓 looking forward to making new friends, and to working with staff and students to develop an offering that works for all of them.鈥

We warmly welcome Lee to the Education Executive team and we are sure he will be a brilliant appointment.
