Professor Chris Ennew to retire
Our Provost, Professor Chris Ennew, will stand down from her role this summer.
She has decided the time is right to retire after decades of outstanding service within the higher education sector.
Chris has led the development and delivery of the University鈥檚 academic strategy since joining 果冻传媒 in 2016.
During her time as Provost, 果冻传媒鈥檚 global reputation as an academic and research powerhouse has continued to grow. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, 92% of our research was rated as 鈥榳orld-leading鈥� or 鈥榠nternationally excellent鈥�. And 果冻传媒 was rated University of the Year for Teaching Quality by the Sunday Times' Good University Guide 2022.
Chris also played a leading role at 果冻传媒 during the lockdown as she helped navigate an unprecedented set of challenges the pandemic created for thousands of students and staff.

As many of you will know, Chris is wonderfully humble about her stellar achievements and successes.
She is a supportive, warm and down to earth person, who treats everyone with the same kindness and respect.
Chris has done so much to improve and enhance the academic side of life at 果冻传媒 but has also acted as a champion for our diversity and inclusion work, along with our sustainability approach 鈥� pushing us to do more and move faster.
We will be sad to see her leave, but we will wish her all the best for her retirement and what will be a new chapter in her life.鈥�
In 2016, Chris was awarded an OBE as part of the Queen鈥檚 Birthday Honours, for services to Higher Education and British-Malaysian Relations.
She has been actively involved in research in the financial services sector for most of her academic career. Chris has published over 100 articles in refereed journals, presented over 80 refereed conference papers and produced five books.
Commenting on her departure, Chris said:
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a real privilege to work for such a great University, and I鈥檒l miss the many wonderful colleagues with whom I鈥檝e had the pleasure to work with over the years.
I鈥檓 expecting to continue to do some advisory and governance work on a part-time basis and look forward to continuing to be able to contribute to the sector as a whole. And I鈥檝e also got a textbook to write 鈥� and won鈥檛 have any excuses after the summer!鈥�
Chris will continue as Provost until the end of August 2023. The process of recruiting a new Provost has begun.
