Term 2 teaching
The University Executive Board (UEB) has recommended the removal of the 1.5m social distancing requirement for teaching spaces from the start of term 2.
By removing the 1.5m social distancing, departments will be able and expected to deliver more face-to-face teaching. There will still be some online teaching where departments believe this is the most effective and inclusive form of delivery. Given the complexities of building the timetable 鈥渋n year鈥, this also means that some larger sessions may remain online due to overall pressure on teaching spaces. However, the expectation is that all students will receive a clear increase in the amount of face-to-face teaching they receive from next term.鈥
This decision follows discussion with the Covid 19 working group, consideration of student feedback (including from some SSLCs), consultation with trade unions, and advice from external partners. As there are across the nation, there were a range of differing views and perspectives, which were considered and taken into account before the final approach was decided and confirmed.
The Timetabling Team is working with academic departments as a matter of urgency to build new timetables and will advise students that they will receive more detailed arrangements direct from their departments.
