Thank you payment for staff

I鈥檓 so pleased to be able to tell you that every member of eligible staff will receive a one-off payment of up to 拢1000 as a thank you for everything that you have done for the University through the Covid pandemic. We couldn鈥檛 have achieved all we have throughout the year without your support. Thank you!

This payment will be made in the November payroll to all eligible members of staff.

Why are we doing this?

Thanks to the enormous amount of work that everyone has put in throughout the pandemic, we have not only survived as a University, but we have thrived. This payment is reflection of that.

In the early months of the pandemic, we committed to prioritising the safety and wellbeing of all members of our community, and to protecting jobs wherever we could. To support this, we provided extra annual leave last Christmas, and last Easter, and we committed to protecting the full salary of everyone who had to go on furlough. I鈥檓 proud to say that no one has lost their job at 果冻传媒 due to Covid. Again, this payment is reflection of that commitment.

How are we doing this?

We suspended all merit pay and increases in senior pay for two financial years, so we鈥檝e saved 拢6.75m through that. In addition, our financial performance for the last year has been much better than we could have anticipated, meaning that we do not need to use those savings for other priorities.

And so we will pay all of this money to staff who have been with us during this challenging time, to say thank you for your brilliant and wonderful work.

Eligible members of staff

You鈥檒l receive this payment if you are a salaried member of staff employed by 果冻传媒 for at least six months in the period between 1 August 2020 and 31 July 2021 (financial year 2020/21).

Please note the below and see our FAQs for more details on eligibility.

The payment is not pensionable and is subject to the usual deductions for tax and National Insurance.
The payment will be pro-rata for part-time staff (e.g. if you worked the full financial year on 0.5 FTE/18.25 hours, half of payment will be received)
The payment will be pro-rata for the part of the financial year worked (i.e. if you worked half of financial year on full time hours, half of payment will be received).鈥�
All those engaged under the VAM payroll, Sessional Teachers, casual staff and all those with assignments with WUEL, Unitemps are ineligible.
