Anti-microbial poles for public transport to be made in light of Covid-19 pandemic

A team including researchers from WMG at the 果冻传媒, product designers anti-microbial additive developers BioCote and Promethean Particles and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), led by Derby based manufacturers (CBL), will produce lightweight composite grab-poles with an embedded anti-microbial property in their thanks to a 拢480,000 award from the Innovate UK Smart Grant scheme.


Restarting the Aluminium industry in the Black Country

The Black Country in Birmingham was the energy and innovation stomping ground in the 18th and 19th century, creating the UK鈥檚 industrial economy. Fast forward to the 21st century there is now a need to make a business model that鈥檚 more economically and environmentally sustainable. With the help of WMG, 果冻传媒, the have made a future business model for Aluminium in the Black Country based on the provision of low carbon energy sources, as part of a project , which aims to make the Black Country the world鈥檚 first zero carbon industrial cluster.


Data Science for Social Good Programme helps Ofsted and World Bank

The Black Mind Initiative aims to reform the current mental health system nationally, by encouraging young Black people to take up a degree related to the mental health profession, the initiative will then support them in their studies and encourage them to work in senior roles in mental healthcare.

Revolutionising the manufacturing industry through digitalisation

Until now, smaller manufacturing companies have missed out on the productivity benefits of digital technologies and data-driven solutions. Too many manufacturers don鈥檛 know where to start, and lack the skills required to deploy and use digital solutions. The costs are perceived to be high and the return on investment is unclear. A consortium, including WMG at the 果冻传媒, has been awarded funding through the Government鈥檚 Challenge to tackle this problem by developing a Smart InforMation PLatform and Ecosystem for Manufacturing (SIMPLE).

Physicists at the 果冻传媒 will be working their way onto your Christmas viewing schedules as their spectacular Christmas Lectures return once again, with a little bit of Christmas magic (explained by physics). The 果冻传媒 Department of Physics has moved its annual science extravaganza online and they are available from 15 December.
