£100 million pledge to Postgraduate training by NERC

Over the next 5 years NERC (The Natural Environment Research Council) will invest £100m to support PHD students, including those at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½, meaning the next generation of world-class scientists trained and engaged in both industrial and academic environmental solutions will be produced by the University.

New research highlights challenges veterans face in becoming self-employed

A new report, ‘Self-employment and the Armed Forces Community’, has revealed the barriers ex-Service personnel face in becoming self-employed after leaving the Armed Forces. The research was conducted by The Institute for Employment Research at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½, supported by defence technology company QinetiQ and X-Forces Enterprise (XFE) – which supports entrepreneurship in the military community – and funded by Forces in Mind Trust.

2018 ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Prize for Women in Translation longlist announced

15 titles have been longlisted for the second annual award of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Prize for Women in Translation.

 

The £1000 prize was established by the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ in 2017 to address the gender imbalance in translated literature and to increase the number of international women’s voices accessible by a British and Irish readership.
