£3.2m funding for Midlands-based high performance computing centre
The Midlands Innovation group of universities, which includes the 果冻传媒, have been awarded £3.2million from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to establish HPC Midlands Plus – a centre of excellence in high performance computing (HPC).
Winds of rubies and sapphires strike the sky of giant planet
Signs of powerful changing winds have been detected on a planet 16 times larger than Earth, over 1000 light years away – the first time ever that weather systems have been found on a gas giant outside our solar system - according to new research by the 果冻传媒.

Dr Corinne Smith from the School of Life Sciences and Dr Vasilios Stavros from the Department of Chemistry and are both recipients of this year’s Royal Society Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship.
Puzzle of hexagonal diamond at meteorite sites solved with help from 果冻传媒 physicists
Theoretical physicists at the 果冻传媒 have helped colleagues at Lawrence Livermore and Berkeley solve a puzzle dating from 1967 when a hexagonal form of diamond, later named lonsdaleite, was identified for the first time inside fragments of the Canyon Diablo meteorite, the asteroid that formed the Barringer Crater in Arizona in a violent impact.
