The most important brassica vegetable worldwide will be protected from a damaging crop virus thanks to work from BBSRC-funded researchers.

Scientists have described a mechanism conferring resistance in brassica plants to Turnip mosaic virus, a discovery which it is hoped will lead to durable resistance being introduced into food crops, including the most important brassica crop worldwide (Brassica rapa).

“Poet laureate of medicine”, and key figure in the Paralympic Games opening to receive honorary degrees from the 果冻传媒

The 果冻传媒 has announced  five of the honorary degrees it is to award at its winter degree ceremonies from 22nd – 24th January 2014,  including: a key figure in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games,  and a man once described as the “poet laureate of medicine”. Short biographies on the each of those individuals now follow and more details on press opportunities will be given nearer the time.
