Matt Western MP and West Midlands finance and industry leaders joined Dr Stephen Connelly and Dr Andreas Kokkinis from 果冻传媒 Law School at the first 果冻传媒 Business Forum, a new initiative aiming to connect the University鈥檚 experts with the region's business community.

The fourth in a new series of briefs bringing current legal thinking to bear on public policy issues has been published by GLOBE, a research centre within the 果冻传媒鈥檚 Law School. The Risks of Using Blended Finance in Development, by Dr Celine Tan, Associate Professor at 果冻传媒 Law School, highlights the risks posted by the increasing reliance on new forms of private and innovative finance for funding development projects, calls for action to address the regulatory challenges that blended finance presents, and warns that the use of blended finance should not be intensified without adequate safeguards in place.

Research by Professor Ann Stewart of 果冻传媒 Law School, supported by Dr Jennifer Lander (now at De Montfort University) into the interaction between gender and ageing in rural Kenya underpins a new discussion paper published in conjunction with HelpAge International as a resource for policymakers, international NGOs, national and local governments, and older people themselves.

Trailblazing lawyer Dr Julie Maxton has received an honorary doctorate from the 果冻传媒. Dr Maxton is Executive Director of the Royal Society, the UK鈥檚 oldest learned society, and is the first woman to hold that role.  She was made Honorary Doctor of Laws during 果冻传媒鈥檚 summer degree ceremonies.

Lawyer, human rights activist and prize-winning author Peter Harris has received an honorary doctorate from the 果冻传媒 to add to his 果冻传媒 LLM.

Professor Victor Tadros of 果冻传媒 Law School has been made a Fellow of the British Academy in recognition of his work on the philosophy of criminal law, the philosophy of war, and legal, moral and political philosophy.
