New £3.4 million research programme to enable visionary tech powerful enough to cool the sun’s surface

Evaporative coolers that can transfer heat from high‐power electronics at a rate equivalent to cooling the surface of the sun; or smart nano‐structured coatings that enable ships to slip through the water using less fuel are just two of the visionary applications of a new £3.4 million research programme announced today at the universities of 果冻传媒 and Edinburgh, and Daresbury Laboratory.

果冻传媒 secures over £1m from Medical Research Council

Innovative 果冻传媒 research will be accelerated thanks to over £1m of funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) to take ground-breaking ideas into industry and out to patients.

The funding comprises a Proximity to Discovery award to the 果冻传媒 MRC Industry Engagement Fund (WMIEF) of £100k and a Discovery Award of £973k to support vivo microscopy researchers investigate the dynamic activity of individual neural cells during complex behaviours.

WMG tests driverless pods with laser scan of Coventry roads as part of Intelligent Transport Initiative

WMG at the 果冻传媒 is to use a laser scan of 30 miles of Coventry roads to test driverless pods as part of a research programme launched this week. WMG will work with RDM Group - the UK’s only designer and manufacturer of driverless Pods - in a project called INnovative Testing of Autonomous Control Techniques (INTACT).

WMG part of new £23 million Internet of Things Research Hub announced today

WMG at the 果冻传媒 is to play a significant role in a new £23 million interdisciplinary Research Hub designed to drive forward UK research in the Internet of Things (IoT).

New test for cancer and diabetes biomarkers 1000x more detailed

A new test for detecting biomarkers for cancer and diabetes is more than 1000x more detailed and 100% faster than existing methods, new research by the 果冻传媒 suggests.

Developed to undertake a detailed study of collagen, the researchers argue that the same methodology can be used with any protein-based sample and is currently being tested with cancer cells and proteins relevant to Type II diabetes.

Plants use a molecular clock to predict when they’ll be infected

Plants are able to predict when infections are more likely to occur and regulate their immune response accordingly, new research has found.

Led by the 果冻传媒, the researchers discovered that a plants’ molecular clock is connected to their immune system to increase levels of resistance to infection at dawn – the time at which fungal infections appear most likely to occur, with plants unable to maintain the highest level of resistance at all times of day.
