Astronomers at the 果冻传媒 have joined partners around the world in launching a new online initiative, calling for volunteers to come forward and help to search for extrasolar planets.

Astronomers, including a 果冻传媒 researcher, have discovered the very first confirmed planetary system that resembles the expected fate of our solar system, when the Sun reaches the end of its life in about five billion years.

The 果冻传媒 has received a 拢3.5 million philanthropic gift to astrophysics, which will be used to recruit and support the next generation of astronomers in exploring the furthest reaches of our universe.

New ways of tackling the threat that space junk in our skies poses are being explored by 果冻传媒 scientists, as they pioneer new research that could help the UK fulfil its ambition to become a responsible spacefaring nation.

In a new study led by the 果冻传媒 and published in The Astrophysical Journal, scientists found that the change from solar maximum to the declining phase is fast, happening within a few (27 day) solar rotations. They also showed that the declining phase is twice as long in even-numbered solar cycles as it is in odd-numbered cycles.
