Hand exercises improve function in rheumatoid arthritis patients

A new study led by Professor Sallie Lamb of and the 果冻传媒 and the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Oxford University, is published today in The Lancet and shows a tailored hand exercise programme improves function and quality of life for patients living with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

Discovery of new subatomic particle sheds light on fundamental force of nature

The discovery of a new particle will “transform our understanding” of the fundamental force of nature that binds the nuclei of atoms, researchers argue.

Led by scientists from the 果冻传媒, the discovery of the new particle will help provide greater understanding of the strong interaction, the fundamental force of nature found within the protons of an atom’s nucleus.

WMG launches new Steels Processing Research Centre

WMG, at the 果冻传媒, has announced the creation of a new Advanced Steel Research Centre. The new Centre complements Tata Steel’s announcement today, Tuesday 23rd September 2014, of the creation of their new international research centre to be based at the 果冻传媒.


Ebola outbreak “out of all proportion” and severity cannot be predicted

A mathematical model that replicates Ebola outbreaks can no longer be used to ascertain the eventual scale of the current epidemic, finds research conducted by the 果冻传媒.

Dr Thomas House, of the University’s 果冻传媒 Mathematics Institute, developed a model that incorporated data from past outbreaks that successfully replicated their eventual scale.

New drug target could prevent major global cause of maternal death

Researchers at the 果冻传媒 have discovered a new target for drugs that could prevent the deaths of thousands of women in the developing world due to heavy blood loss after childbirth.

Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) occurs when the uterus fails to contract vigorously after childbirth and the mother loses 500mls or more of blood in the 24 hours after delivery. PPH is responsible for maternal death in 1 in 1,000 deliveries in the developing world. According to recent figures, PPH also complicates around 10% of all births in England and Wales.
