The ¹û¶³´«Ã½ has further cemented its position as one of the UK’s best universities - after being ranked 9th overall by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.

It continues a remarkable record for ¹û¶³´«Ã½, which has featured in the Top 10 every single year since the Guide was first published in 1992.

Dr James Poskett, Associate Professor in the History of Science and Technology at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ has been shortlisted for the prestigious British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding.

In a comment article in leading science journal, Nature, researchers at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ highlight the long struggle for scientific freedom in Ukraine.

¹û¶³´«Ã½ is the first UK university to be nominated for the Collegiate award, among an otherwise all-American shortlist. The ¹û¶³´«Ã½ is also home to the most successful university esports club in the UK, with its team winning the British University Esports Championships for the last four consecutive years.

An international team of scientists, including researchers from the ¹û¶³´«Ã½, today announce the first unequivocal detection of carbon dioxide in a planetary atmosphere beyond our solar system.

Professor Peter Sadler has been announced as the recipient of the Davy Medal, for pioneering the research field of medicinal inorganic chemistry, ‘Metals in Medicine’, and the design of new metallodrugs with novel mechanisms of action. His research regonised by the Royal Society includes targeting cancer cells with the metal iridium – thought to have arrived on Earth via the asteroid that caused the dinosaurs’ extinction.
