MI Talent- New funds launched to support the training and development of Midlands technicians in higher education and research
Three new funds have been launched to support the training and development of technicians working in Higher Education institutions in the Midlands. The funds are being provided by TALENT, a programme led by Midlands Innovation which is advancing status and opportunity for technical skills and supporting the roles and careers of technicians across UK higher education and research.
The three funds available are:
- TALENT Technician Led Training Fund
- TALENT Technical Placement Fund
- TALENT Technical Conference and Skills Fund

A huge congratulations to Tom Moore and Joe Benjamin who have both successfully completed their advanced engineering apprenticeships and secured positions within WMG.
Royal Institution Christmas Lectures - Placement Opportunity for Technical Colleagues
The Technician Commitment is delighted to announce that we are once again partnering with the Royal Institution to offer two placements for technicians from Technician Commitment Signatory Institutions to work on the 2020 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures and applications are open now!
Started by Michael Faraday (who began his career as a technician at the Royal Institution) in 1825, and now broadcast on national television every year, the Royal Institution鈥檚 Christmas Lectures are the UK's flagship science series. The Technician Commitment have teamed up with the Royal Institution to offer technical colleagues at signatory institutions the opportunity to work on the 2020 Christmas Lectures. Three expert scientists, Tara Shine, Chris Jackson and Helen Czerski, join forces to present the 2020 CHRISTMAS LECTURES –
