Minor updates to Ordinances 3 and 5

On 15 July 2026, the Council approved minor amendments to Ordinance 3: Officers of the University and Ordinance 5: The Senate, following the retirement of Regulation 2. The change was made to the Ordinances on 31 July 2026 with effect from 1 August 2026.

Retiring Regulation 2

On 24 June 2026, the Senate approved the removal of Regulation 2, due to the previous disestablishment of Faculty Boards. The change was noted by the Council on 15 July 2026. The change was made to the Regulation on 31 July 2026 with effect from 1 August 2026.

Colleagues are advised to now refer to the Academic Governance Framework and Senate Standing Orders.

Minor updates to Ordinance 10

On 15 July 2026, the Council approved with immediate effect minor amendments to Ordinance 10: Students' Union, including:

Removal of reference to the now disestablished Faculty Boards.
Addition of reference to Finance and General Purposes Committee, where WSU Annual Report and Accounts are presented.
Update name of Finance Group where WSU Management Accounts are reviewed.
Addition of the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 with reference to ��ý’s responsibilities.
Minor typos.

Updates to Regulation 6

On 24 June 2026, the Senate approved with immediate effect amendments to Regulation 6: Admission to the University to ensure the regulation is fit for purpose, aligned with best practice, and clearer in structure and language in line with the requirements of the Academic Regulations and Policy Framework

Updates to Ordinance 8

On 29 April 2026, the Council approved revisions to Ordinance 8 Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates with immediate effect, to to allow the posthumous conferral of a non-academic version of all degrees, certificates and diplomas listed in the Ordinance.

Minor update to Regulation 34

On 18 February 2026, the Senate approved with immediate effect a minor amendment to Regulation 36: Student Registration, Attendance and Progress, 4.3. to update "the University’s Good Practice Guide on Monitoring Student Engagement and Progression" to "the University’s Student Engagement and Progress Monitoring Policy".

Minor update to Regulation 34

On 10 February 2026, the Senate approved with immediate effect a minor amendment to Regulation 34: Determination on Fitness to Practise, (2)(a) to reflect the change of name from Director of of the Centre for Teacher Education and Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning to Head of the Centre for Teacher Education and Head of the Centre for Lifelong Learning respectively.

On 28 January 2026, the Senate approved with immediate effect several minor amendments to Regulation 34: Determination of Fitness to Practise, following approval of changes to the Membership of the Fitness to Practise Panel (non-MBChB) for 2025-26 by the Quality and Standards Subcommittee.

The changes will be noted by the Council on 11 February 2026.

Minor update to Regulation 42

On 11 November 2025, the Senate approved with immediate effect a minor amendment to Regulation 42: Governing Academic Appeals, 5.3 to reflect the change of name from Faculty Education Committee to Faculty Education and Student Experience Committee.

The change will be noted by the Council on 11 February 2026.

On 5 November 2025, the Senate approved with immediate effect several minor amendments to Regulation 10: Examination Regulations to reflect current practice and add reference to smart watches.
