Student IT Induction

Complete the Student IT induction

Completing your Student IT Induction is the first step after enrolling. This will provide you with access to: your IT account, student email, campus Wi-Fi and key platforms that you need for your studies such as: Tabula, Moodle and Microsoft 365.

When to complete it:
Right after enrolling 鈥� before arriving on campus.

Why it matters:
It unlocks all the digital tools you need to be a student at 果冻传媒.

Download the My果冻传媒 app

My果冻传媒 is your student hub (it is the website you're on right now). It is available either online or via the My果冻传媒 app. On the app, you can access your timetable, term dates, travel updates, events, student policies, exam guidance, and support services.

When to use it:
All the time! Most students check it daily.

Why it matters:
It keeps you connected to student life and helps you to find information and support when you need it.

Safezone

Download the Safezone app

SafeZone is the 果冻传媒鈥檚 free safety app, designed to help both students and staff feel safe, informed, and supported on campus. Whether you鈥檙e working late, walking alone, or need urgent assistance.

When to use it:
Whenever you feel like you need it - campus support is just a tap of away.

Why it matters:
SafeZone connects you directly to campus safety and support teams in real time.

Teaching and learning platforms

Tabula

Tabula: Your course management platform
Use Tabula to view your teaching timetable, attendance, Personal Tutor details, manage modules, submit assignments and check marks and feedback.

Note: WBS students use my.wbs instead.

Why it's important
Tabula helps you stay organised and on top of deadlines. As all your assignment grades are visible on Tabula, it is key for keeping track of your academic progress.

鈥淐heck Tabula at the start of each day. This helps you to stay updated on timetable changes, such as room changes, cancellations or rearranged sessions. They will appear on Tabula first!鈥�

Tabula

Moodle

Moodle: Your learning platform
Moodle is your hub for academic content and essential training. Use it to access course materials, find assignment details and links to lecture recordings (if available), submit assignments, take tests, and communicate with tutors and classmates.

Each module has its own page in Moodle. You'll find module resources, announcements and forums to ask questions. Moodle is also used for for non-credit courses, such as lab inductions.

Why it's important
Moodle hosts everything you need for learning. While Tabula handles course admin, Moodle is your go-to platform for academic content.

Student top-tip
鈥淐heck the 鈥楾imeline鈥� tab on your Moodle dashboard to track upcoming assignments. This will help you to stay organised and avoid missing any deadlines.鈥�

my.wbs

my.wbs: Used by all 果冻传媒 Business School students
For all students studying at WBS, my.wbs is your online learning environment. Unlike other departments that use Tabula, WBS students use the my.wbs platform instead.

Note: If you're a joint honours student or taking an external module within 果冻传媒 Business School, you'll need to use my.wbs to access course information and resources for that module.

Why It's important
my.wbs gives you access to your teaching timelines, module info, assignment submission, marks and feedback.

Other key platforms

Talis Aspire (reading lists)

Talis Aspire: Your reading list platform
Talis gives you direct access to your course readings, such as e-books, journal articles and videos. It is particularly helpful for students who have a lot to read, such as English or Politics students.

Why it's important
Talis is vital for staying on top of your reading. Tutors label readings as: Essential, Recommended or Further, and arrange them by week or topic. This way, you know what to read and when to prepare for lectures and seminars.

鈥淵ou can also find your reading lists through Moodle 鈥� just look for links to Talis in the weekly content breakdown."

Echo360 (lecture recordings)

Echo360: Lecture recordings platform
Echo360 gives you access to recorded lectures - ideal for reviewing complex topics and revising. It is important to note that not all lectures are recorded; so check with your lecturer if you're unsure.

Why it鈥檚 important
Rewatching lectures on Echo360 can reinforce your learning. It can fill gaps in your notes and helps you prepare for exams and assignments. It's especially helpful when understanding new or challenging material.

Student top-tip
鈥淒on't rely on recordings, always attend in person! Recordings can miss key information due to technical issues or quiet audio. Being there in person allows you to engage fully with the material and your lecturers.鈥�

Echo360

eVision

eVision: Your student records portal
eVision is the University's student records system. It is where you update your personal details and confirm your module registration. You'll use it primarily in the first few weeks of term to register for modules.

Note: each department manages module registration a bit differently - they will let you know how it works for you. If you're unsure, ask an academic member of staff or your Personal Tutor.

Why it鈥檚 important
eVision is key for keeping your student record up to date. This includes your address, contact information, emergency contacts and module choices. If your details change, make sure to update eVision.

鈥淎t the start of each term, check your record carefully. Pay close attention to the modules you鈥檙e registering for - contact your department if any details are incorrect.鈥�

GradIntelligence

Gradintelligence: Higher Education Achievement Reports & 果冻传媒 Award

Gradintelligence is the University's digital platform that provides two key services:

1. Access to your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEARLink opens in a new window) - your official degree transcript and certificate.

2. Participation in the 果冻传媒 Award Link opens in a new window- a self-reflection based programme of skills development and experience. To take part in the 果冻传媒 Award, you'll need to activate your Gradintelligence account.

Why it's important
Gradintelligence gives you access your formal official record of study, and enables you to benefit from the 果冻传媒 Award - helping you to build core skills that employers look for in graduates.

Extra-curricular and community

Students' Union website

The SU website connects you to campus life. You can join sports clubs and societies, buy event tickets and access support services. It's your go-to for info on food outlets, course reps, student elections and the SU Advice Centre.

Why it's important
It helps you get involved. You can connect with fellow students with similar interests and find out what's happening on campus.

MyAdvantage

MyAdvantage host the Student Opportunity careers and skills portal and the Together at 果冻传媒 Link opens in a new windowextra curricular events calendar. Explore jobs, internships, volunteering and book 1-1 careers advice and discover opportunities to connect with other students and try new things.

Why it鈥檚 important
The Student Opportunity portal helps build employability skills and showcase your experience to future employers, whilst the Together at 果冻传媒 calendar allows you to discover events, like big cultural celebrations for Christmas, New Year and Holi.

鈥淪et up personalised job alerts by selecting your interests in Settings, like job type or industry, then enable email notifications."

A guide to MyAdvantage

WRB: Book a room

Use WRB to reserve rooms for society events, meetings or quiet study. It's useful for club execs, course reps or anyone needing a distraction-free space on campus.

Why it鈥檚 important
Secure the space you need and make the most of the facilities available to you.

Student top-tip
"Society Execs - book early! For Welcome Week, the Welcome Team books have control of all rooms and will allocate you space on the official timetable. But at any other time of the year, it is up to you to reserve early and avoid last-minute stress!"

Assistive technologies and study support

The University offers a range of assistive software technologies. For example, the Library offers assistive software for students with disabilities, learning differences, or anyone looking to tailor their learning.

Tools include: text-to-speech software, literacy tools, screen readers, note-taking and dictation software and mind-mapping tools.
