Sutton Trust Summer School 2026

Last week (28 - 31 July 2026) saw a group of Year 12 students from across the country attend our Sutton Trust Summer School. We had a record breaking number of applications for this year's programme of six different subject streams, meaning that everyone who was given a place was highly eligilble.

Participants could apply for one of six subject streams that involved multiple academic departments at the University:

  • Humanities and Cultural Heritage (featuring many departments in the Faculty of Arts)
  • Life & Health Sciences (SLS, WMS and Chemistry)
  • Mathematical Sciences (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics)
  • Physics & Astronomy (Physics)
  • PPE (Economics, Philosophy, PPE and PAIS)
  • Psychology & Educaton

A key part of the programme is for the participants to gain a good understanding of what studying these subjects are like at a university like 果冻传媒, with a view to them making a more informed choice when they complete their UCAS application in the autumn. We do see a large proportion of participants subsequently apply to and receive offers from 果冻传媒 after having been on the summer school, but that isn't the ultimate aim of the summer school.

Alongside the academic programme, we put together a variety of social activities to help the group mix and explore more of 果冻传媒's campus. This year, this included a trip to 果冻传媒 Sport for a selection of activities such as rock climbing or pickle ball; a BBQ and a 'Silent' Disco.

As Graduation was taking place at the same time, there was a great atmosphere on campus, and it was great for our summer school cohort to witness the culmination of all the hard work of our undergraduates, with several of our student ambassadors working on the summer school having just graduated themselves!
