New disposal service for bodily fluid and sharps waste

The Waste & Recycling Team has introduced dedicated disposal arrangements for bodily fluid waste and sharps waste, in partnership with the University's waste contractors.

The service provides two options for disposing of this waste safely:

Drop-off service

Disposal bins and containers are available at the Boiler Yard Waste Compound.

You can drop off bodily fluid and sharps waste during the following hours:

• Days: Monday to Friday
• Opening hours: 8:00am–4:00pm

The facility is staffed during these hours.

Request a collection

If you need bodily fluid or sharps waste collected, please submit a request through and select the Waste & Recycling Team.

These requests will be treated as urgent and attended to between:

• Days: Monday to Friday
• Hours: 6:00am–4:00pm

What if an incident happens outside these hours?

If an incident involving bodily fluid or sharps waste occurs outside the hours listed above, please contact Community Safety.

They will arrange for an external contractor to attend where necessary.
