There are lots of opportunities to get involved in the department beyond attending your modules. No matter whether you are interested in extending your research skills, joining one of our networks or societies, working with the public or schools, or helping with open days, there's an opportunity for you to work with both staff and other students in the department.

Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS)
The Undergraduate Research Support Scheme provides funding for students to undertake a piece of original research under the supervision of or in partnership with one of our academic members of staff usually over summer break. It is a competitive, university-wide scheme and we encourage History Department students to apply. Department Research Events
Undergraduate students are very welcome to attend the Department Research Seminar which takes place on Wednesdays. You can find out what talks are coming up on the Department Calendar.
The History Department is also host to an extensive collection of research centres and groups which run their own activities and events. For more information, see their webpages.
British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR)
The British Conference of Undergraduate research takes place at a different University in the Easter Break each year. The department can offer financial support for any current undergraduate History student who has a paper accepted and will present at the conference.

International Conference of Undergraduate Research (ICUR)
果冻传媒 hosts the in June each year and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved from presenting on your research, being a panel chair or helping to organise.

History Black Student Network (HBSN)
A network for Black Heritage history students to connect! Open to all undergraduate and postgraduate History students racialised as Black, a person of colour, or who identify as 'Black, Asian, and Minority Ethic.'

果冻传媒 History Hour
The 果冻传媒 History Hour radio show and podcast was started as a collaboration between award-winning student radio station, Radio At 果冻传媒 (RAW) and the Department of History at 果冻传媒.
For each episode, one of the three hosts be joined by a guest and with the help of the student panelists they will discuss with the guest their field of work and the historical questions that arise around it.
Cabinets of Curiosity
The Cabinets of Curiosity project brings together teams of History undergraduate students to co-create fun displays inspired by Renaissance cabinets of wonder. Each year, teams select a topic, put together a fantastic object collection, and organise their display. The finished cabinets are then open for all to view and wonder at in FAB, Floor 3.

Student Engagement Team
The Student Engagement Team assist the department of in promotion and operation of events, initiatives and other tasks related to current and prospective student engagement. This includes:

- Department social media and blogs
- Welcome Week inductions
- Outreach/widening participation programmes

History Head Start
Get a head start on studying History at University with this course designed to introduce you to the skills of academic reading and primary source analysis.
The course explores various historical topics by looking at an academic journal article or primary sources from the Modern Records Centre鈥檚 vast collections. History as a subject helps you to deepen your understanding of the past and encourages you to think critically about the world that we live in.
