Curtin Academy Mentor Circles
Launched in 2025-26 with Curtin Academy at Curtin University, Perth, the 果冻传媒-Curtin Academy Mentor Circle invited WIHEA Fellows and Alumni the opportunity to co-mentor Curtin colleagues alongside an experienced Curtin Academy Fellow, pairing a 果冻传媒 perspective with a Curtin one on projects that had strong ideas but had not yet secured funding.
Running from February to December 2026 and co-chaired by Associate Professor Ben Milbourn and Associate Professor Sherry Bawa from Curtin Academy, the programme brought together a cohort of 20 mentors, 10 from 果冻传媒 and 10 from Curtin, supporting 5 mentee teams. Four weekly online sessions, each pairing a plenary on teaching and learning with breakout mentoring sessions were built towards a five-minute funding pitch, with mentors and mentees then continuing to work together through three further one-to-one sessions across the rest of the year. Successful projects received Curtin Academy grant funding and conversations between colleagues at 果冻传媒 and Curtin continue.
Transatlantic Teaching Exchange Series
During 2025-26, Staff and Students from across the US, UK, and Canada joined for monthly conversations exploring critical questions in higher education teaching.
This collaborative series brought together colleagues and students from Elon University, 果冻传媒, University of Leeds, and partner institutions to share perspectives, challenge assumptions, and build connections across borders. Each session featured a short presentation followed by a facilitated small group discussion where attendees engaged as equal partners.
Topics included teaching excellence, sustainability in the curriculum, belonging and exclusion, AI in education, assessment for learning, and building transatlantic partnerships.

UK SoTL Alliance
The UK SoTL Alliance was established in June 2025, out of the first Dales Dialogue, in collaboration with Jess Humphreys, Director of WIHEA, Gabriel Cavelli, Director of Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE) and Janet De Wilde, Former Director of the Queen Mary Academy. The Alliance has continued to grow significantly in its second year, expanding from 25 founding members to over 40 institutional members. The Alliance is a cross-institutional collaborative body that drives and celebrates the value of research-informed educational enhancement of students' experiences through the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).
WIHEA's leadership within the Alliance has also grown: Jess has been elected as co-chair of the UK SoTL Alliance steering committee and is also co-lead of the Action Group exploring Impact, Voice and Advocacy. A further two action groups have been established, exploring areas from scholarship careers and the Hidden REF, with other action groups being developed. The Alliance has also established a , now approaching 1,000 followers from the UK and beyond, a sign of its growing visibility across the sector.

UK SoTL Alliance Member Organisations
WIHEA continues to support the Monash 果冻传媒 AllianceLink opens in a new window (MWA), and is committed to helping promote MWA's funding opportunitiesLink opens in a new window, to its community.
From 2016 to 2024, WIHEA and the Monash Education Academy (MEA) jointly managed the MWA Education Exchange Scheme, with the aim of facilitating a minimum of three staff visits in each direction per annum to share dialogue on excellence in pedagogy and pedagogical practices.WIHEA is thrilled to host international visitors, facilitate exchanges and form partnerships to develop excellence in pedagogy. Recent and past visits are detailed above.
