This post is part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) initiative funded by Innovate UK. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a UK-wide programme that has been helping businesses for the past 40 years to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge and skills that reside within the UK Knowledge Base.

The Associate will be responsible for the management and delivery of an Innovate UK awarded KTP between 果冻传媒 University and Coltraco Ltd., improving the company鈥檚 expertise in ultrasonic sensor design and manufacturing, including sourcing the correct materials, designing and manufacturing sensors with the appropriate matching layers, enclosures, electronics, and couplants for the intended functions. We do not expect the successful candidate to have any previous experience in ultrasonic transducer design or fabrication, but if they do this may be an advantage.

You will normally be based at Coltraco鈥檚 premises, and will be subject to their hours of work (40 hours per week) and holiday provisions (20 days per annum as well as statutory bank holidays).

The Associate will develop expertise in the use of Coltraco鈥檚 analogue and digital products to a level where they can undertake technical demonstrations. They will also evaluate the properties of Coltraco鈥檚 ultrasonic transducers to identify areas for improvement, while quantitatively analysing the performance of the transducers, identifying failure rates, and producing technical descriptions of any performance issues. The Associate will undertake background reading on the underlying science and engineering behind ultrasonic transducers and the interaction of ultrasound with relevant stimuli (i.e. the materials and objects tested with Coltraco鈥檚 products). Ultimately, the Associate will be expected to put their learned knowledge into practice by designing new ultrasonic transducers for Coltraco鈥檚 current and future products, with properties ideally suited to the relevant applications. The Associate must work with their colleagues to develop suitable manufacturing methods so that their designs may be effectively realised in a scalable, repeatable fashion.

Reporting to the project supervisor at Coltraco Ltd. the Associate will work as part of a dynamic engineering team ensuring new knowledge gained is embedded within the company through clear designs and manufacturing methods for new ultrasonic transducers, training materials and the creation of documentation. 果冻传媒 will provide specialised technical support and supervision to the Associate to ensure Coltraco Ltd. is an industry leader driven by world class research. The Department of Physics seeks to appoint one Research Fellows to work with Prof. Boris Gaensicke within the area of evolved planetary systems. The Research Fellow will work on the analysis and interpretation of a large spectroscopic data set of gaseous debris discs. Specific tasks include investigating the long-term variability of the emission line profiles based on a dedicated X-Shooter monitoring program and the identification of additional gas disc systems using the spectroscopy from the DESI and SDSS surveys.

This 1-year position is funded by the ERC and is available from Oct 1st 2026, or soon thereafter.

Applicants must hold, or be about to obtain, a doctoral degree in astrophysics or a related field. Expertise in one or several of the following areas is desirable: analysis of large spectroscopic data sets, Doppler tomography, analysis of time-series spectroscopy containing weak periodic signals.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Elementary Particle Physics group within the Department of Physics at the 果冻传媒.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to undertake research in the LHCb experiment, specifically to contribute to our programme of LHCb data analysis and work on maintenance and operation of the vertex locator subdetector or development of particle identification detectors for LHCb Upgrade 2. Contributions to LHCb data processing and simulation are also possible.

About You

We are looking for someone with a PhD in experimental particle physics or another relevant subject, and a proven track record of research in instrumentation and/or data analysis. Experience in software and modern data analysis techniques would be valuable for the role, as would good working knowledge of C++ and Python.

Candidates should have excellent communication and collaborative working skills, as well as demonstrated experience of planning and time management to deliver research goals effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Condensed Matter Physics group within the Department of Physics at the 果冻传媒.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join a new project on 鈥淎tomically thin moir茅 materials for low-energy electronics鈥, a Major Research Initiative supported by the . This five-year collaboration integrates materials growth, advanced microscopy and spectroscopy, nanoelectronic device fabrication, and machine-learning-accelerated theory, drawing on complementary strengths across both universities. We are investigating the following research areas:

  • Moir茅 metamaterials - controlling electronic, and topological structures in moir茅 systems.
  • Tuneable quantum phases - exploring superconducting, ferroelectric, and correlated states in engineered heterostructures.
  • ML-accelerated modelling - developing multiscale simulations for moir茅 and 2D systems.
  • Low-energy device prototypes – building and testing devices using cleanroom and cryogenic platforms.

The position advertised here focuses on the production of high-quality single crystals of a wide range of 2D and layered materials including transition metal dichalcogenides and other low dimensional materials. These will include magnets, superconductors and topological materials. The crystals will be grown using various techniques such as the Bridgman, flux growth and chemical vapour transport techniques.

In addition to crystal growth, the work will also involve characterisation of the crystals produced through measurements of their structural, magnetic, transport, and other properties. Extensive laboratory based powder and single crystal x-ray diffraction work, as well as the use of advanced microscopy techniques will be required. The work may also involve the fabrication of two-dimensional heterostructures and devices using the single crystals obtained. There may be scope for taking part in experiments at international facilities using neutron and x-ray scattering, muon spectroscopy and Angle Resolved Photoelectron Spectroscopy (ARPES).
