This photographic work is on a massive scale to give a true sense of the landscape it depicts, and the enormity of the change in progress. The foreground shows a family or community looking out onto the landscape from a jutting concrete plinth, with strong straight lines endlessly cutting out towards the horizon in all directions. Despite the greenery visible in this background, the unnatural divisions made by the perfectly straight lines convey a sense of the total loss of nature. As the viewer鈥檚 eye returns to the foreground, and the backs of the only people visible in the composition, the question of emotional response to this sight is raised. Is this community grieving the loss of a familiar, natural landscape?
