Cadmus Pilot
Exploring the Future of Digital Assessment at 果冻传媒
During the 2026/27 academic year, we will run a pilot of the Cadmus assessment platform to evaluate how it could support future assessment practices across the University.
The pilot will help us understand whether Cadmus can support a wider range of assessment types, improve staff and student experiences, strengthen academic integrity, and contribute to 果冻传媒's long-term vision for digital assessment.
This pilot is an evaluation activity. No decision has been made about future adoption of Cadmus. The purpose of the project is to gather evidence and understand whether the platform is the right fit for 果冻传媒's assessment ecosystem.
What is Cadmus?
Cadmus Assessment is an online platform supporting the full assessment lifecycle, from design and student preparation to submission, marking and feedback. Students can plan, draft and complete work in a structured environment, with instructions, resources and guidance in one place. Staff can create and manage assessments, provide scaffolding and formative support, monitor progress through learning analytics, and identify students needing additional support. Cadmus supports wide range of authentic assessments. It integrates with Moodle and includes accessibility and academic integrity features, similarity checking, AI-powered feedback, online marking and detailed engagement analytics to support both students and staff.

Pilot timeline
August 2026: Initiation
September 2026: Pilot preparation
October 2026 to February 2027: Creation, delivery, and support of pilot module assessments. Ongoing evaluation of Cadmus against framework.
Final evaluation report: March 2027
Why are we running this pilot?
果冻传媒 currently uses a number of different digital assessment tools.
Recent work on the University's Assessment Strategy Link opens in a new window identified an opportunity to explore whether a more integrated approach could better support teaching, learning and assessment.
The pilot will help us evaluate whether Cadmus can:
- Support 果冻传媒's Assessment Strategy
- Improve assessment design and delivery
- Enhance staff and student experiences
- Support assessment integrity in an AI-rich environment
- Provide a sustainable and scalable solution for online assessment
- Meet accessibility and inclusion requirements
- Integrate effectively with Moodle and other institutional systems
What will happen during the pilot?
The pilot will involve eight modules from different subject areas across the University.
Participating departments will work with Digital Learning and Cadmus to design, deliver and evaluate assessments using the platform.
The pilot will intentionally include a range of:
- Assessment types (including group work and vivas)
- Academic disciplines
- Cohort sizes
- Levels of operational complexity
- Summative and formative activities
This approach will help ensure that the project gathers meaningful evidence about how the platform performs in different contexts.
How will the platform be evaluated?
The evaluation framework will be developed with input from a broad range of perspectives and priorities and should reflect (but not be limited to) the following key themes:

- Meets the assessment strategy
- Improves student and staff experience
Assessment Integrity
- Supports academic judgement and integrity
- Addresses generative AI challenges
Accessibility and Inclusion
- Meets all accessibility requirements
- Supports reasonable adjustments
Operational Viability
- Impact of adoption on PS teams is manageable
- Support model is robust and sustainable
Scalability
- Supports future usage levels if adopted
Technical Viability
- Integrates effectively with Moodle
- Manual process have the potential to be automated in future
