The formal call opens this year on 21st September 2026 and closes at 5pm, on Monday 19 October 2026, eligible staff and students across the institution can apply demonstrating their commitment to learning and teaching and their experience leading good practice by submitting the relevant application form below.
What are the selection criteria?
Applicants will be expected to show in their application a record of commitment to learning and teaching and some experience of leading good practice development for instance through projects, staff-student partnerships, mentoring or curriculum development. Criteria differ slightly for staff and student fellowship applications. See relevant application forms for further information.

Staff Applications must provide a summary of the following:
The applicant's area of interest and motivation (to include the aspects of teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum, student success or the student experience that most interests the applicant) and why it is important to them.
Relevant experience, projects, leadership activities, committee membership, scholarship or contributions that have prepared the applicant to be able to contribute to the above area and educational leadership more widely.
How this area connects with current WIHEA, Faculty, Departmental/Service or Sector priorities, challenges or opportunities.
What specifically the applicant would like to explore, develop, influence or enhance during the three-year term of the Fellowship and what impact they hope to have.
How the applicant will create capacity to meaningfully engage as a WIHEA Fellow and advocate for WIHEA within their department/service alongside their existing responsibilities.
Staff Applicants must attach a confirmation of support from their Head of Department/Service, and also a WIHEA Fellow or Alumni for their application to be considered. A list of current FellowsLink opens in a new window and Alumni are available to help you identify those in your area.
Staff must have a minimum of 3 years contract of employment with 果冻传媒 as of 9 November 2026.
Student Applications must provide a summary of the following:
The applicant's area of interest and motivation (to include the aspects of teaching, learning, assessment, curriculum, student success or the student experience that most interests the applicant) and why it is important to them.
Relevant experience of learning and teaching projects/activities (such as WIHEA, IATL, SSLC or other student-led/partnership activities) that they have contributed to and include what their specific role/contribution to enhancing or improving the student experience at 果冻传媒 was.
Details of any student working group, committee or club membership that contributes to the area of interest, and demonstrate an awareness of how this area connects with priorities/challenges within the applicants Department, Faculty, or the wider institution/HE sector.
What specifically the applicant would like to explore, develop, influence or enhance during the one-year term of the Fellowship and what impact they hope to have.
How the applicant will create capacity to meaningfully engage as a WIHEA Fellow and advocate for WIHEA within their Department, alongside their studies and other commitments.
Student Applicants must attach a confirmation of support from their Tutor and also from a WIHEA Fellow for their application to be considered. Students please note: This is a voluntary role alongside your studies from 9 November 2026 to 8 November 2027. There may be opportunities to get involved with WIHEA funded projects that may have paid project roles.
Applicants should address each individual question and provide answers that are between 60 to 100 words (100 words maximum) per question.
For Staff answering question 2 and Students answering questions 2 & 3, please provide information on the most relevant experience, activities or memberships that support your area of interest and please carefully consider and be realistic in your answers to questions 4 & 5.
Two signed confirmations of support (a statement or email confirming that the application is supported) is required for all applications. One must be from a WIHEA Fellow or Alumni and the other: for Staff must be from their Head of Department/Service and for Students' their Tutor. The statements must be attached at submission and applications will not be considered without them in place before the selection process starts. Any additional comments made in the statement will not count towards the recruitment process. WIHEA continues to receive many more applications than there are Fellowship places available, to ensure fair and inclusive representation from a wide range of departments, where several applications are submitted from the same department a cap may need to be placed on how many from each department can be selected.
The WIHEA Community Advisory Panel will make the final selection.
